Sofia-based sports betting operator, Eurofootball, signed a two-year sponsorship deal with Bulgarian national football team and the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU). The contract runs until 30th August 2016, taking the partnership beyond the UEFA Euro 2016 tournament for which Bulgaria attempts to qualify.
Eurofootball signs deal with Bulgarian national team; Casino Technology inks with Bulgaria club powerhouse Ludogorets“For us it is very important to sponsor BFU and the national football team through the long road ahead to the France 2016 championship,” Eurofootball CEO Nikolaos Arsenopoulos said in a statement. “We are proud to support the BFU and wish the national team the best of luck.”
The deal calls for the BFU and the national team to support Eurofootball’s charity drives, as part of the latter’s “Win and Help” corporate social responsibility program dedicated to encourage sports among Bulgaria’s youth. The partnership also comes at a good time for the national team in its drive to qualify for UEFA Euro 2016. “We hope that with good chance and Eurofootball’s support, we will succeed to qualify for the championship,” BFU president Borislav Mihaylov said.
The Bulgarian national team sits at fourth place with three points after three qualifying matches in Group H, behind of Croatia, Norway and Italy, and ahead of Malta and Azerbaijan.
The country’s preeminent club team PFC Ludogorets Razgrad finalized its own sponsorship deal with Bulgarian casino games developer Casino Technology. The deal allows the game developer to attach its brand to the three-time, defending Bulgarian football league champions and promote its newly launched eCasino.bg online casino platform. The partnership will give Casino Technology access to its club’s media sites as well as prime ad placements inside the Ludogorets Arena.
“As a company that managed to break into the world market thanks to its own efforts, hard work and policy for selection and training of staff, we are pleased to support FC Ludogorets in which we see the same qualities and momentum,” Casino Technology Founder and President Milo Borissov said in a statement.
Ludogorets sits second in its domestic league behind leaders CSKA Sofia. The team also competes in the Champions League where it’s been grouped with football powerhouses Real Madrid and Liverpool FC.

Bulgaria Grants Sports Betting Licences to Betfair & Eurofootball
Bulgaria’s State Gambling Commission (SGC) has granted approval to sports betting operator Eurofootball and betting exchange Betfair to allow Bulgarian betting transactions and promotion of betting services to Bulgarian citizens.
The SGC will allow both operators to promote sports betting services through .bg access url’s. The license further grants the operators will the inclusion of promoting online casino and poker services to Bulgarian residents.
Betfair and Eurofootball join a select group of igaming operators who have been granted licenses by the SGC, the other operators granted approval to promote igaming services are – Pokerstars, Efbet.com and Bulgarian sports lottery operator Sports Toto.
Industry analysts believe that the Bulgarian Government is likely to issue further approval to new operators seeking entry into the market. The Bulgarian Gambling restructured proposed igaming taxes to 15%. Additionally all operators who wish to enter the market must also by an entry levy of €35,000 to the state in order to gain a license.
In the past six months the SGC, have blacklisted sports betting and igaming operators that have not complied with regulations, enforcing site access restrictions from Bulgarian regional internet IP’s.

Bulgaria issues online license to billionaire national
Bulgaria is becoming a very frustrating environment for European online gambling operators since the March 2012 laws regarding online gambling to regulate the market. The law was believed to offer the chance for operators to enter the market in Bulgaria but one and half years later not one European online gambling operator has been issued with an online license except for Eurofootball that is based in Malta but interestingly the owner of the company is Bulgarian billionaire Vassil Bozhkov Krumov.
Most if not all of the European operators have been placed on the Bulgarian black list for the country and most of the major operators which would like to enter the market also sit on that blacklist so barring them to apply.
With Bulgaria struggling with economic woes and with the opportunity to gain much needed revenues from taxing online operators the government continues to lock out the Europeans.
Analysts in the European market say that the tax revenues for the government in Bulgaria could be as high as $200 – $300 million per annum, but point to possible corruption and the entire lack of foresight within government to allow operators in the market.
What continues to happen is customers in Bulgaria continue to play online illegally on Europeans gambling websites and the government in Bulgaria loses out on taxes.
