William Hill, Unibet and Betway have all been blacklisted in Lithuania following a request by the Lithuania Gaming Control Authority to the countries ISP providers to block the companies offering online gambling to residents.
Under orders from the National Parliament after a list of blacklisted companies was drawn up who are deemed to have broken national online gambling laws.
The three online operators are the first of the International companies to have been blacklisted with more to follow it is understood. The move follows new laws that were passed at the beginning of the year to tighten regulations on overseas companies offering online gambling within the country.
At present only online sites TonyBet and Orakulas are allowed to offer online gambling within Lithuania as they have been fully licensed within the country.
However those currently blacklisted and those companies that are on the list to be blacklisted are still welcome to apply for an online gambling license to offer online games said the Gaming Control Authority.

Bwin.party look to withdraw from 18 countries.
Bwin.party have announced they are blocking players from 18 countries within the EU and also South America. Those countries involved are Greece, Poland, Romania, Cyprus, Finland, Serbia, Armenia, Belarus, Croatia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Slovenia, Ukraine, Argentina, Brazil and finally Colombia.
The move was announced to affiliates by the company on an email on Friday 19th April.
On the email it said that from the 30th April no new singups will be accepted from those countries and also there was a request that all marketing material aimed at those countries be removed. However all existing accounts will remain open, and affiliate commission to those accounts will continue to be paid.
It is thought the move is connected with those countries mentioned looking to reduce or prohibit online gambling within their borders in the future along with the commercial aspect that those mentioned are small in operating value and allows bwin.party to focus their efforts on more lucrative markets such as the US and more recognised and profitable regions such as the UK and Spain.

Poker now a sport in Lithuania
On March 20, the official ruling body of Lithuanian sports, the Department of Physical Education and Sports issued an official decree recognizing the Lithuanian Sports Poker Federation as an official sports federation, opening the doors for further development of poker as a sport in Lithuania.
This recognition is extremely important because it will allow the LSPF to organize noncommercial poker tournaments outside of casinos in Lithuania. This is sure to boost poker's popularity in the country.
“This is extremely important step in our work,” Andrius Tapinas, president of the Lithuanian Sport Poker Federation, said. “We are receiving congratulations from many of our colleagues abroad and I know that we are breaking thick ice with our progress for similar international initiatives.”
Next week, the LSPF will present its official tournament schedule to the Lithuanian sports media. Undoubtedly, this will generate a lot of attention for poker because of the uniqueness of the sport and celebrity status of LSPF president Andrius Tapinas, who is the presenter of the of the most popular Lithuanian business TV show. His cashes in WSOP and Unibet Open tournaments were also covered on the front pages of biggest Lithuanian daily.
