Caesars Interactive Entertainment beats Zynga
Caesars Interactive Entertainment (CIE) has for the first time surpassed Zynga as the leading online social casino game, according to a report by Eilers Research.
It is another blow to the once leading online social gaming company, which has recently installed a new CEO to help bring back the good times to Zynga.
Caesars Interactive Entertainment, is a subsidiary of Caesar Entertainment, a part of the world’s largest gaming company. The CEO of Caesars Interactive Entertainment is Mitch Garber, with also from CIE will be launching their branded World Series of Poker for real money in Nevada later this summer.
According to the report CIE now holds over 18% of the global online social casino market in the second quarter of 2013, with Zynga holding a 15% market share.
The overall online social casino market is expected to grow by 67% to $2 billion by the end of 2013 says Eilers. While the expected growth is encouraging, the market has the potential of becoming over saturated.

Social gambling a $100 billion industry by 2017?
According to new research by Juniper, they estimates that mobile gambling could reach a global figure of US$100bn by 2017, driven by social gaming and the development of mobile wallets.
The new report from Juniper, ‘Mobile Gambling: Casinos, Lotteries & Betting’, has found that, in five short years, the global figure for wagers made via mobile devices annually could rise from just under US$20bn (2011) to US$100bn.
This increase is expected to stem from a surge in social gambling activity, which has seen some companies adapt to capitalise on this growing market. “Social gaming companies such as Zynga are seeking to move from play-for-fun casino games into real money gambling, while pure-play mobile casinos, including Probability, have begun to integrate with the Facebook mobile platform,” said Dr Windsor Holden, author of the report. “In this way, consumers will be able to use their social networks to register for casino games, substantially increasing both the reach and engagement of such services.”
Several UK-facing sportsbooks are already seeing around 20pc of online wagers coming from mobile devices, like smartphones or tablets. While sports betting currently accounts for the largest share of mobile gambling, the report predicts that casino gaming will catch up by 2017.
Social media integration and the rise of social gaming has helped these figures along thus far, and the future holds more potential with the increasing deployment of mobile wallets, offering a viable alternative payment method for mobile gamblers.

Mind-blowing Zynga and Wynn?
Social gaming and real-life betting is rapidly becoming a match-made in heaven. It’s recently been exposed that Zynga is in talks with Wynn Resorts about a potential online gambling link between the two. Although none have commented on the matter, it doesn’t stop the rumour mill from running.
At least 20 states are considering legalizing online gambling after the Justice Department reinterpreted a decades-old federal law in December and found it only banned sports betting and not other forms of online gambling. In light of this, Zynga CEO Mark Pincus has said that the firm’s possibilities are “mind-blowing.”
The nypost.com discovered that there could be a few problems that Zynga would encounter. Firstly, Wynn wouldn’t have to be the only partnership.
Among the problems: Most of the proposed state legislation would restrict online licenses to those who already are licensed to run a state gaming operation. Wynn only operates in Nevada.
New Jersey, for instance, has a bill that passed the state Senate and is now in the Assembly that would grant Internet licenses only to those with computer servers based in Atlantic City casinos. “Our goal is to help existing casino operators. We don’t know anything about Zynga,” state Assembly Regulatory Oversight and Gaming Committee Chair Ruben Ramos Jr. told The Post.
Zynga could be moving to the UK, facing fierce competition at the same time.
Indeed, Facebook, which does not want to host online gambling on its own site, has held conversations with UK online bookmakers William Hill and Ladbrokes about offering Facebook users access to their sites, a source said.

Zynga & Wynn partnership?
The CEO of social games developer Zynga gave online gambling a lift on Wednesday, telling the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom conference that online gambling was a ‘natural fit’ for his company’s products..
“I think it’s a good natural fit. I think, philosophically, the part people haven’t noticed yet, real money gaming is the perfect fit with virtual goods & social games,” Marcus Pincus commented, informing his audience that online gambling could bring in an additional billion dollars for his company, & that recent changes in the federal approach to anti online gambling laws, along with Facebook policy changes, could lay the foundations for golden opportunity.
Pincus boasted that Zynga Poker was the largest online poker game on the planet with more than 30 million players, & reiterated that Zynga will soon release other casino-related games like bingo, strengthening its already impressive positioning.
The innovative chief executive also hinted at more casino-related developments, telling the audience that his developers may not be confined solely to traditional gambling games:
“We’re interested, but you should expect to see us do a lot more than what you’ve seen in offshore casinos,” he said. “The amount of innovation you’re going to see around gambling as an entertainment mechanic is going to be mind blowing.”
Pincus also indicated that he was considering possibly partnering with a traditional casino company before the end of this year.
Pincus said his San Francisco-based company sees a great deal of opportunity “to start to bring this gambling element into more than just casino games.”
The Dow Jones newswire reports that Zynga’s CEO suggested the company may partner with traditional casino firms such as Wynn Resorts Ltd.
“We’re definitely talking to all of the players that you would suspect,” Pincus said, adding, “We have incredible respect & admiration for brands & groups like the Wynn… I would expect that you’ll see a lot of these players kind of figure out their go-to-market partnerships for sure before the end of this year.”
