Irish bookmaker Paddy Power have continued in the same vein with its mischief making advertising ways by hiring Amsterdam’s We Are Pi as its “brand mischief” agency for the Rugby World Cup.
Paddy Power CMO Gav Thompson says: “We Are Pi are our kind of agency; creative, restless and non-conformists. We went looking for a partner in mischief and they were the stand-out choice. Their ideas were clever and naughty in equal measure, and I am very excited about our future together.”
So of course Paddy Power wanted to make a statement with controversial “trigger happy American dentist.”
If the dentist pots a country’s animal ‘icon’ (which in New Zealand’s case seems to be a sheep) then they’re predicted to lose.

Bookmakers fear 'nightmare' scenario of Wales World Cup win
For Saturdays semi-final, William Hill was offering the miserly odds of 4/5 on Wales winning and 11/10 on France.
Ladbrokes were yesterday offering 11/8 odds on a Wales versus New Zealand final and 9/2 on Wales versus Australia.
Ladbrokes Alex Donohue said: Were cheering on Australia in a big way for the tournament. New Zealand would be an acceptable result but a Wales win would leave us in despair.
Sky Bet was offering 4/6 odds for Wales and 6/5 for France to prevail on Saturday, a distinct shift from 24 hours earlier when France were at evens and Wales the narrow 5/6 favourites.
Bookmaker Stan James said the semi final lineups have led to a shake-up in Rugby World Cup betting with StanJames.com.
The big Rugby World Cup betting story so far is that New Zealand can be backed now at a bigger price than they were available pre-tournament, he said.

188Bet seals first Rugby League sponsorship deal
Continuing to invest in UK sports, in-play sports betting specialist 188Bet.com has signed a one-year partnership deal to become the official betting partner of rugby league football club Wigan Warriors, under which 188BET’s logo will also be displayed on the club’s home and away shirt sleeves for the 2010 season.
As the club’s official betting partner for the 2010 season, 188Bet will also offer match day betting services to fans at the DW Stadium as well as an online betting service for Warriors supporters.
The deal with Wigan Warriors represents 188Bet’s first sponsorship agreement in rugby league and follows a twelve-month period that has seen the company establish itself in UK sport, in particular Premiership football.
Last year 188Bet signed two shirt sponsorship deals with Premier League football clubs, Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic, while the company is also the official betting partners to Aston Villa, Chelsea, Liverpool, and rugby union side London Wasps RFC.
Wigan Warriors signed a headline sponsorship deal with Rank’s online bingo business MeccaBingo.com last year, with the Bingo brand displayed on the front and back of the Warriors’ home and away shirts.
“188Bet are already establishing themselves as a big name in professional team sports,” said Wigan Warriors Chief Executive Mick Hogan. “We are delighted that they have now extended their support to Wigan Warriors for 2010. Having listened to their future plans regarding sports sponsorship we are excited to be in partnership with them for the forthcoming season.”
